There is no wrong mark
People often tell me, in the first session, that they “can’t even draw a stick figure.” That’s okay. Truly. Art therapy was never about the drawing.
It’s about the process of making — the way color, texture, and motion can hold what words can’t quite reach yet. You don’t need talent. You only need a willingness to show up and make a mark.
What a first session looks like
We talk a little about what brought you in. We get comfortable with the materials. And then we begin — gently, at your pace. There’s no pressure to create anything in particular, and nothing you make is judged.
Begin where you are. That’s always enough.
If you’ve been curious about art therapy, this is your invitation. Reach out any time — I answer every note personally.
